MASTERS AND CORKILL TAKE 27TH ANNUAL GSTRC TITLE
Ropers Leave Town With A Truckload Of Money

San Antonio, TX--Chad Master and Jade Corkill has to back-up th.eir new trucks to haul off all the money they won during the 27th Annual George Strait Team Roping Classic . Masters was the header on the winner team and then partnered with last years winner Michael Jones to take home 4th place money as well. If that wasn’t good enough, winning Partner, Jade Corkill, won 1st, 2nd and 6th place with three different partners. The winning team won $3135 in Friday’s first go-round and $2356 in Friday’s second go-round. The team started off the day with an excellent time of 4.81 in todays final round before winning the second go-round on a red wrapped steer, sponsored by Wayne Wright Lawyers, and picking up an additional $20,000. They capped their day for winning the overall worth $177,790. In all, Masters won $125,493 in cash while Corkill won $152,193. In addition to the cash, both Masters and Corkill won 2009 Chevrolet Silverado Dually pick-ups from Cavender Chevrolet of Boerne, Tx and Bruton Easy Pull Strait Extreme 3-horse slant trailers.

483 Teams Entered in 27th Annual GSTRC

San Antonio, TX-----After suffering a short power disruption due to a circuit breaker failure, the 27th Annual George Strait Team Roping Classic is underway. George Strait welcomed all the fans and contestants and thanked all the sponsors who make the roping possible. 483 teams, 56 more than last year, were offically entered.

IT'S TEAM ROPING TIME IN TEXAS
Ropers Beginning to Arrive

Team ropers from all across the country are beginning to arrive at the San Antonio Rose Palace. Six hundred fifty teams pre-registered for the event last week and most are expected to show up here this weekend. The long line of trucks and horse trailers stretches for some distance in front of the Rose Palace entry gate. The rain has been falling since yesteray and the temperature has dipped down into the 30's and isn't expected to get higher than the forties or low fifties for the next couple of days. Everybody is bundled up in an effort to keep warm.

All tickets, whether by mail, phone or online are sold on a first come-first served basis and customers will be notified if their ticket orders will not be filled. Tryan and Jones Take $176,000 Payout at 26th GSTRC

Like the rest of the competitors at the 26th Annual George Strait Team Roping Classic, Travis Tryan went to win. When the dust settled following Saturday’s final round, I’m quite sure Tryan had won more than he expected. The Montana-turned-Texas cowboy cleaned up in the finals of the 2008 GSTRC by claiming both first and second place and hauling $123,285 in cash, a 2008 Chevy truck, Bruton trailer, Twister saddle and Gist buckle out of the San Antonio Rose Palace arena.

TRYAN TRIED HARDER AT STRAIT
Takes First and Second Place At 26th Annual George Strait Team Roping Classic

San Antonio, TX (March 15, 2008) - In any competition, many say “You are competing against yourself” and at today’s 26th Annual George Strait Team Roping Classic, twenty-seven year old Travis Tryan found the statement to be truer than he realized. It all came down to the final minutes with Header Travis Tryan and Heeler Kory Koontz roping a 5.92 to take the top position. The very next roping and final of the day was Travis Tryan again, this time with teammate Michael Jones. In order to take the lead, the Tryan/Jones team had to rope with a time better than 6.15 seconds. The crowd was on their feet and cheers thundered through the Rose Palace as Tryan and Jones took the lead with a 5.59 third round finish.

Sartain and Johnson Win 25th Anniversary GSTRC
Top winners team up for only the second time

San Antonio, TX (March 24, 2007) – An unlikely pair teamed up for the second year in a row to compete in The George Strait Team Roping Classic – and walked off first-time winners. Header Nick Sartain (Yukon, OK) and Heeler Jhett Johnson (Casper, WY), who do not rope together during the regular season, decided to rope as partners on a last second whim. The two ropers teamed up in the 2006 GSTRC but did not make the finals. This year was a different story. The duo took first with a combined three round score of 16.84.

GEORGE STRAIT INDUCTED INTO COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME
The King of Country receives highest honor

Nashville, TN (Nov. 7, 2006) — The King of Country Music secured his reign last night at the 40th Annual CMA Awards as he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. George Strait is the second artist elected in the “Career Achieved National Prominence Between 1975 and the Present” category, which was created last year. He was presented for induction by 2004 Hall of Fame honoree Kris Kristofferson, who praised Strait’s longevity, noting that “for musical consistency and durability, none in his generation can match him.”

George Strait Selected For The Country Music Hall Of Fame

George Strait remains one of the most successful and influential country artists of the past 25 years. A native of Pearsall, Tx, Strait was the son of a junior high school teacher who owned and operated a ranch that had been in his family for nearly 100 years. After graduating from high school and briefly attending college, Strait married his high school sweetheart, Norma, before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1971. While stationed in Hawaii, he began playing country music.

The 2006 George Strait Team Roping Classic is scheduled for March 10th & 11th of next year at the San Antonio Rose Palace in San Antonio, Texas but tickets for the event will go on sale much sooner. The GSTRC ticket office will begin taking ticket orders on October 3rd. Since the event has been completely sold out over the years, it is very important to order tickets early in order to guarantee availability. Ticket prices for each day of roping will remain the same as last year at $16 each, including shipping and handling charges. Additional postage charges will apply for tickets mailed outsided the United States. The GSTRC staff will mail tickets out the first week of February.

Gulf Coast Slammed By Hurricane Katrina

The residents of the Gulf Coast of the United States from Louisiana to Alabama suffered an unparalled catastrophe when Hurricane Katrina struck the coast. All George Strait fans and people everywhere are asked to do anything and everything you can to help alleviate the suffering, whether it is volunteering your services through local organizations or churches or making a donation to one of the relief organizations. We, personally and at the George Strait Fan Club, have made contributions to the efforts and challenge all country music fans everywhere to do the same. George Strait has once again agreed to be the guest auctioneer “For The Love Of Kids & Harleys” benefit in San Antonio, Texas. 2005 GSTRC IS A HUGE SUCCESS
Cash And Prizes Total Almost One-half Million Dollars

San Antonio, TX (March 12, 2005) – When Speed Williams and Clay O’Brien Cooper looked up at the scoreboard after roping their third and final steer of the day, they knew they had done what 501 other teams couldn’t do that weekend – they’d won the George Strait Team Roping Classic. Amidst thunderous cheers and applause, Speed and Rich threw their hats up in the air in amazement and pride. “When I saw Speed throw his hat off, I figured I had better too,” laughed Clay O’Brien Cooper. “All of a sudden, it dawned on me, ‘You’ve done it!’ It’s just an awesome feeling.” The team nabbed the championship with a combined time of 15.90 seconds for three head. They’ll split a cash prize of $72,734 and each drive home brand new Chevy Silverado Truck furnished by Cavender Chevrolet of Boerne, TX and Strait X-treme 3-horse slant trailers by Bruton. They are no strangers to the winners circle in San Antonio. O’Brien won the GSTRC in 1995 and Williams in 2003.

GSTRC starts at 10am on March 11th

San Antonio, Tx--A total of 655 teams called up to pre-register for the 2005 George Strait Team Roping Classic. The event will be held at the San Antonio Rose Palace on Friday, March 11th and Saturday, March 12th beginning at 10am both days. Last years event payed out over $300,000 in cash and prizes including two Chevrolet diesel twin-cab dually trucks from Cavender Chevrolet and two Bruton 3-horse slant Strait Extreme trailers from Bruton Trailers. The Trucks and trailers went to last years champions Jake Barnes and Allen Bach.

Pre-registration for teams wishing to compete in the 23rd Annual George Strait Team Roping Classic on March 11 and 12, will take place on Monday, Feb. 28 and Tuesday, March 1, from 5PM- 10PM CT. Teams may register by calling 210-698-9251. The cost per team is $600. Entry fees must be paid, in cash only, by 9:45AM on Friday, March 11 at the San Antonio Rose Palace located at 25665 Boerne Stage Road in San Antonio, TX. Each contestant may compete on a maximum of three teams. All horses must be stalled in San Antonio Rose Palace stalls. No portable stalls will be allowed. PRCA dress codes will be in effect.
